happy birthday to me..!

This week I turned another year older but not wiser hehe. My birthday was on Tuesday, it has been a while since I had my birthday on a week day. The last couple of birthdays were on Sat, then Sun. So I guess it was pretty much like a normal day, work then pilates.. Then I went round to Kirsten and Anders for dinner, I love that they live so close cause Wednesday I had an 8am start at work.

Thursday this week we had a team dinner at Pirita's place. It was really nice to see Ashraf again, we miss him not being at work. In the picture below is Ashraf, Michaela and me.

After dinner I went to meet with Alex to discuss the party on Saturday. He was at this great little bar in the centre of the city with a live ska band playing and lots of interesting looking people with tattoos and lots of style.

For once I was sensible and even though ended up going to Friday bar for a little while did not have anything to drink. That night I watched a very sweet movie called
Lars and the Real Girl, it was a real giggle.

Saturday it was birthday party day =)
It was also raining a lot.. I biked around to Pirita's getting very wet in the process and then her, Hans and me headed out again to go shopping. We went to 3 different supermarkets but still didn't have all we needed. Pirita's apartment is in a very nice area right near the royal palace but it lacks a lot of the stores we get further out of the city. So we also took a bus back almost to my place to get the last stuff from Fotex. We were worried that people may not some becuase of the bad weather and already had a few people say they wouldn't be coming but it ended up being a good crowd. Alex turned up and was put straight to work making the cocktails. I had tried to get the garnish thing happeneing but then people were eating them =) So we gave up on that. Once the strawberry daiquiris started coming they were very popular. It was a really great night and once again I am so thankful for the people I have met here from Saxo. All so different and interesting and lovely fun people. We only had one bunch of random people turn up later in the night. I'm not sure how they heard of the party. Later we moved from Pirita and Han's to Luux bar. I think I'd had too many cocktails by then because it wasn't so much fun like on George's party. George and Wayne wanted me to go to the African bar with them but I went home by taxi as I don't think I could have biked!
I will post the pics on my
web album, had a real laugh looking at them tonight. Unfortunately someone was not using the flash so a lot are blurry but there are some great ones =)

ooooooh..

it's kinda amazing how u can do these random astrology things and they turn out so true.. i just did one to find my juno sign whatever that is and it came up with this:

Your Juno is in Libra.
Loving Juno in Libra has a tendency to give her all in relationships. While this leaning can be loving and touching and can shore up the confidence of her partner, she may also sublimate her identity in that of her partner's. Be careful, Juno-Libra, that you don't put your trust in those who aren't worthy and that you remember to keep some time and energy for your own pursuits. That said, Libras are at their happiest when involved in loving long-term partnerships. You love to be in love and are extremely committed to your partner, perhaps committed to a fault. Choose your partner carefully and watch for values which conflict with your own. If you choose the proper partner you are wonderfully giving and loving in love and have peaceful relationships with a minimum of arguments and a maximum of affection. Love just comes naturally to you and so do relationships; it's not often that you're alone and that makes you a happy Juno-Libra indeed.

hahaha - be careful that you don't put your trust in those who arn't worthy, if only i would listen to that!
u can find out if it is true for you at http://goddess.astrology.com/juno/signs.html

ooooooh and i found this other amazing website, can't wait to go to the shop..!

laters..

why can't i be in 3 places at once..?

Last week was STRØM week. STRØM is Copenhagen's electronic festival and it has been so great to see the city put's together these fantastic festivals with lots of free events. On Wednesday I went to the art museum to see what I thought would be djs with visual effects. It was very dissapointing as it turned out to be these guys making noise that sounded like loud static with nothing to look at. So I cycled over to meet Nat at wonderland and check out how the makeover was going.

Once again I was pretty tired when it came to Friday. A combination of working too hard and staying up watching this great TV series James recommended Carnivale. I just finished downloading season 1 and after the first episode I was hooked. I love the way they have made it look nice & creepy like the old school freak circus =) Of course I still went to Friday bar and then was going to come home and watch a movie but got motivated by everybody else talking of going out. Alex had called and was at outdoor party at Enghaveparken but after dragging myself out everyone decided not go out after all. Spent a nice evening chilling with Lena though.

Saturday I was definately going to the outdoor
STRØM party and stopped off at the block party at Nansensgaden. I just love the way Copenites all get together and have these huge parties. People drag all the tables and chairs out of their apartments and set them up on the streets, bars & restaurants set up shop out on the sidewalk and there is live music and djs everywhere.

But I was off to meet with Nat and watched a nice little skate session at Wonderland.

Then we headed to the STRØM party. There was some really funky music and a nice park to have a party but it was very dark so not good for people watching.

These guys were loving it..

We were then back to the block party as everyone knows the best thing about a party is the people watching. Nat has this thing about biking through the city though so it was a lot of biking round the long way around..

Sunday Iwas pretty tired after all the parties. I would have liked to have gone to the beachparty at Amar Strandpark for the end of the festival but was nice to meet with Kirsten and catch up on the goss. There was also a fair happening at faelleparken with a nice band and a lot of fait trade goods. We had some tea and chocolate and watched all the people heading to the stadium to watch the football. We had to leave when the crowd started singing and chanting in that weird footy fan way.

Well I better go, I'm eating Danish lamb and drinking Japanese beer, how mulitcultural am I! =)

paris hilton wasted an hour of my life

Well it is almost the end of another busy week. It's amazing how much the weather can change in such a small amount of time. Last Sunday I was here..

Basking in the sun at Stella Polaris 08, a lovely day of music and people watching in the garden behind the art museum in the city. It kind of reminded me in a way of Groove in the Park but much much smaller. I was there from 2pm till after 8pm and by the time I got home I was very tired.

On Monday it was pouring down with rain and it wasn't until the afternoon at work that I started to think maybe something wasn't right. My colleague was feeling very unwell. Then I put all the symptoms together.. tired, headache, heavy bones, light headed, sore throat.. I got another damn virus! I never had any before I can remember and now this is my second since living in Copenhagen. The thing with them is I'm not sick enough to not go to work but it slows me down a lot socially! Anyways it was so busy at work again this week I didn't even have time to think about it.

Wednesday I met with Nat after work and after a lovely picnic of yummy gourmet food from her work at
Magasin in the Kings Gardens we went to the cinema to see the new Batman movie. I had heard such great things about this film and it did not disappoint. It must of been long though as I didn't get home till around 12:30. Thursday Paris Hilton was supposed to be visiting a store underneath my work at 6pm. After I finished work and a bit of shopping it was 6:30 and I thought I'd wait to see if I could see her as I got a very good viewing spot. I waited an hour, an hour!! Never again will I waste anytime on that girl. I felt most sorry for the young people who were waiting hours for her. Apparently she didn't turn up till 10pm. The it was again another late night as I wanted to design my party invite.

Friday again and time for Friday bar!! A little more subdues than the week before and some guys from the German desk had a Wii set up so I tried playing some virtual golf. Then it was back to Harold and Marta's for some more drinks. Marta cooked up some yum tortillas and we played more wii until our arms got sore.

Saturday I had a lazy morning then went to Faelleparken to meet with Nat at the skate competition. I wish I had taken my camera! It was great fun having some beers and watching the skaters and listening to the dj. There were some strange bands playing also, the first band very folksie and the second very heavy metal. I was supposed to go back to Marta's and also meet some friends at the skate competition after party but ended up falling asleep very early. I think it was my virus reminding me it's still there.

Today I had a nice morning calling home and doing housework before visiting the Danish National Museum.

It was nice to see the prehistory, I was a little disappointed with the Danish middle ages exhibition as it was mostly arts and I was wanting to read about the history of the country. Think I should probably just get a book out from the library and am most interested in reading about the Danish Royalty in history. Anyways I will have to go back another time to finish the museum.
Laters..

amazing street art..

wonderland

looking through you tube for movies on christiania i found this little gem of a skateboard competition they had in wonderland this year. somehow i got roped into working on the bar but it was a lot of fun. there is a nice shot of nat's man chris wiping out spectacularly..

Christiania, you have my heart

Well it's been a mixed week with many nice random fun times and also some sad times. What makes me sad is just not understanding how people can be negative and nasty. I never thought of myself like a hippie before but maybe this is why I feel so much more at home in Christiania than anywhere else. I wonder why people can't be happy and treat people how they would like to be treated. Isn't every moment that you spend thinking negatively about other people and dwelling on things a waste of time? Get over it, move on, make up, be friends and enjoy every moment you have and every person that you share this world with.

This is what I love about Christiania, I feel more comfortable in amongst the hippies, weirdos, drunks, youths, stoners, rustas, students, pushers, tourists, skaters and every other types of humanity you see in Christiania than out in the 'real world' because no one judges you there, no one sticks out, everyone can get along. It doesn't matter how old you are, what you wear, where you are from, how much money you have or don't have etc.. I wish everybody could experience it, the best people watching place, full of random moments, like a festival everyday. Wednesday was a pretty sad day but with great sunny weather so as soon as I finished work I was on my bike into town and not sad for much longer. After a quick stop at Nat's work to see if she would be heading into Christiania after she finished I went in to do some shopping as I had been meaning to get Si & Kay's birthday presents for a long time. It's no secret I love randomness so was very happy to bump into Phi & Phong's friend Christian who was also coming in to hang out and wait for Phong. We got a table in the sun at Nemoland and were soon joined by some other people Christian knew. One guy sitting with us turned out to be an American whom was starting his new job at the place I work on Friday. So I was able to tell him some gossip before he started. We went to go see Nat who was chilling in Wonderland.

Then we moved the party to Sct Hans square and met up with Phong. This is another great place to hang out as many people gather there to sit around and hang out with friends with a few beers. I had to leave the party there cause it was a week night but was a very pleasant evening.

Then it was Friday and time to say goodbye to Marta :(
It was a very busy Friday bar and was nice to see all the lovely presents that we had all put in for, including a Nintendo Wii. After a few at the work bar it was time to head home and get changed and then meet up in town. Wow I have never seen so many different Saxo people all out together. Usually there are different groups hanging out but last night everyone was in the same bar and it was fantastic fun. Okay enough blogging I'm going to put some photos on my web album..
