on top of the world!

This week has been great, I feel extremely happy =)

It started of pretty quiet. We got given our exam project at school on Tuesday and from now until mid December will be working on that. Tuesday was pretty stressful as people were making groups around me & I soon found myself groupless. Lucky me & Lucas found a group of 3 that were happy for us to join and I am really happy with my new group. Now I just got to find the motivation to work hard on this project.

I did not much else from go to school and work and read lots until Thursday when I went straight after work to meet Janus and get something to eat. Then we went to something called the Songwriters Slam. One of the guys who was in my camp at Roskilde organises these nights and there were a bunch of musicians whom performed their songs. There were judges that rated the songs then the top 4 went to the next round & the top 2 of that round to the finals. It was interesting and fun concept. We stopped by at Bankeråt on the way home. It is a very cool cafe/bar with some interesting decorative elements..

Friday I went to school and talked a bit with my group then they all left. So I hung around school annoying everyone else and waiting for Friday bar. It started snowing the first snow of the season and was very nice standing outside in the snow. They were working on the bar so we had to get some beers from the service station across the road and drink in the canteen until they could finally open the bar. They had stripped down the floor and painted it black, this made it very slippery! It was fun sliding around and having a few beers before going home for an early night.

Saturday morning I woke up very early and biked to work to meet everyone for our xmas party before 8am. They had lots of buses waiting so we jumped on one and were then driven to the airport. It looked like all our hopes were coming true and we then checked on to 2 flights to Iceland!!

Waiting to check in with Michael, Hulya and Soo.

Our flight was delayed due to ice on the plane and we didn't take off till around 11:15am. It took around 3 hours to fly to Iceland and we watched a very stupid movie on the way. We landed at a very small airport in Keflavik a very barren place on a peninsular a little further along from the capitol Reykjavik. We piled onto buses again and had a guide explain to us about the area as we drove. We first went to a place that used to be used by NATO up until a few years ago when all the Americans moved out. We stopped at a hall and were to try some Icelandic delicacies here. EWWWWWWWW!! It smelt very fishy when we went in but the little white cube didn't look to bad. I should have known not to try it by the revolting smell but put it in my mouth anyway. It was revolting! I had to spit it out because the texture was so bad I felt if I had swallowed it I would have thrown up! I quickly gulped down the shot of schnapps and then when we were back on the bus the lady explained to us that it had been rotten shark meat that had been dead for more than 6 months!

Don't eat it!!!

Our next stop was where 2 continental plates met. The landscape around here was amazing, all volcanic lava rocks and sand. The next stop was at the coast and it was very beautiful here. It reminded me of the wild west coast in Taranaki.

Then it was to our final destination, the Blue Lagoon!!

We were given a bag with a towel and robe and had some snacks before getting into our swimsuits. We had to shower before going in the water and then it was a cold fast dash to the water. The water when I first got in was not so warm and the fact that it was raining icy little raindrops made it seem even cooler. I swan around with Coreen and we found a warmer spot but it wasn't until we found all the others that we found the really hot spot. It was very nice there and very relaxing for skin and body. They had some silica mud around and everyone had this caked on their faces. We must of stayed in the water for over and hour and then it was time to get out and get ready for dinner. It was absolute chaos in the girls changing rooms and I amused myself at thinking how different it must be in the mens with them just throwing their clothes back on and hitting the bar. The buffet food was okay and had a few glasses of wine before hitting the bar for bourbons and the dancefloor for lots of bootie shaking action.

With the Top Gun guys..

Saxo people sure know how to party!

Haha, YMCA..

It had actually been warmer than Copenhagen there during the day but we soon found out it was freezing there at night out in the smokers area and people were still swimming in the murky blue water. It was a very fun night and all too soon we were told we had to get back on the buses to get to the airport.

I don't actually remember getting on the plane at all but I remember the fun antics on the way back. I managed to find a seat in business class but was not there for long. Paulo was up in first class area and we tried to convince the guy sitting next to him to go to my seat so we could sit together but he was big and fat and lazy and mean and didn't move. So we went round the plane trying to find others that were awake. We found some guys with a bottle of whisky but the cabin crew confiscated it. Then we found Bjorn had some baileys and we found Juan up and partying to. We hung out in the cabin crews area for quite awhile talking to them and had one guy tell us to be quiet cause people were trying to sleep. Someone had taken my seat so I found one right at the back of the plane and slept for a little before we got back. By the time the buses had taken us back to work and Paulo had dropped me home (didn't think it was a good idea to bike) it was 7am. So I went to sleep completely exhausted and did not feel so great when I woke up this afternoon. But I have had a very nice relaxing day and got all my laundry done and will soon have an early night.
