spring!! yes wait nooooo..

Ok so something strange happened to my blog so new layout time..

It was pretty crazy today, I biked to work in the sun (allbeit a very cold, windy sun), stopped by at the spa for a while and lay blissfully in the hot pool and sauna, then came outside again to sun but wait, what is that on the ground.. snow?? Apparently while I was inside for not even 1 1/2 hours a small snow storm had passed by. This is spring in Copenhagen!

Last week was another very busy week. It started Wednesday when I wondered off on my bike to Paula's place after work to help her celebrate her 26th birthday. She had made some gratin dauphinois and salat (which is actually a potato dish not grated dolphins) and we had some drinks at her cosy kollegium before heading to Saxon bar in the very dodgy part of Norrebro. It was a fun night with far too many beers and back to Phong's for shots of fishermans and next thing you know I am getting home at 4am!! Not being used to this midweek madness I slept through my alarm only to be woken by the landlady as the electrician was here to do some work. They gave me an hour to wake up and get out so I actually made it to school not too much past start time. Not that I was any use for anyone. Lucky Travis was there and I could watch him until it was safe to go back home and crawl back to bed for a few hours.

Playing around at Saxon's

I tried to get out of quiz night on Thursday but Mark was not having it. I believe his words were "a hang over is no excuse!" As it turns out quiz night at the cross is every second Thursday, I have been very lucky on the other occasions to turn up on the right week. But there was a quiz at the Globe so I met Mark and Charles there and had a pleasant evening catching up with them over one beer hehe. Turns out they are pretty good at quizzes and our team didn't suck as usual =)

Friday I awoke with a very painfull stomach. I tried to get ready for school but felt very ill and was a little worried when I heard that there was a stomach bug going around that some people had died from :-O!! I went back to sleep and then dragged myself out of bed as I did not want to miss St Patrick's day celebrations at my school. I tried to visit the doctor on the way but her being her useless self wouldn't even answer the door. I was hoping that guinness was going to be the magic cure but had to go home after just 1 and 1/2. Then feel sorry for myself the next day when I saw all the photos of the night and what a fun party it looked like. Anyway instead i tucked up in bed and watched the movie Superbad which turned out to be just a little bad.

Feeling pretty sick but not looking as green as Sune!

Happy St Patrick's Day!!

Saturday I was feeling a bit better and I didn't stary far from home until it was time to meet at Hard Rock before going to the Volbeat concert at Forum. I decided I would drink white russians as so far milk had seemed good for my stomach and they are very tasty. It was me, Michael, Isrin, Morten and Maart who walked to Forum and met with Karina to see the concert. There were a lot of people there and it took a long time to get drinks, good timing though as just as we had them Volbeat started. They were a very nice band to see live. The crowd was very quiet for so many and towards the end me and Morten got right up the front very easy for a final mosh (well I was one of the only ones moshing). We then headed to Valhalla bar which was very empty but played some nice 80's rock before meeting with Nick and Dean and going to the Moose. As per usual Moose style it was a fun night that ended up with Maart & I sharing a taxi while the sun was coming up.

Volbeat live at Forum.

So as per usual I have had a very quiet Sunday, Monday Tuesday. Recharging the batteries for the busy part of the week. I have had a lot of trouble with my internet connection which has been fustrating but for some reason when Marc came to look at it tonight it just started working (now I think he thinks I made it up!). Today I squeezed a visit to the spa inbetween school and work and it was very nice to relax in the hot pool. I was offered frozen grapes in the sauna which was a very tasty experience. It was just a shame I had to rush to work afterwards.

My new favorite place in Copenhagen.

Freshening up with tea & frozen grapes before having to go to work.

Well lets see what pics I can find from last week..

crazy party city!

grrr computer and internet problems are making me very frustrated. I can't wait until I live somewhere with proper uninterupted internet and have a computer that works properly!

Anyways it was another very busy week last week. I never fully caught up on sleep from the massive party weekend and next thing it's Wednesday and the fun part of the week starts again. Wednesday night I headed over to Kat's and had another fun night with some wines and comedy. Thursday I was wanting to go out but after a mind stretching day at school learning sound and being told we had an assignment due the next day I decided against it. Although after I got home from work and had dinner the next thing it's 11pm and bed time. Not sure where the hours went!

I got a new phone so took a picture from my desk at work..

So Friday I had this sound assignment to do and had to add sound to my game concept image. Seeing it was only me I was very proud of what I got done. I managed to work out animating the image, rendering it and then importing to flash. From there I added some background sound. Then it was to the Friday bar for just a couple of beers as I wanted to stay fresh for the party later that night.

Our chill out room rocks!

Borgar and I enjoying some bevvies

Karina wasn't feeling well unfortunately as I was looking forward to some girlie chat before the party. But I headed over to Phong's and she soon joined. Then it was off to Stengade 30 for the Rock The Night party. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be but nice to see Sune dressed in black and did some dancing before heading back to Phong's for more drinks and chats.

Saturday night it was Lena's birthday and she had made a wonderful party in the party room at her old apartment. There was lots of yummy food, dangerous welcome drinks and lots of friends from Saxo. It had been a long time since I had been out with them so was great to catch up. But I was really tired from a busy week so although I went to Karina's I wasn't much fun and fell asleep on her couch :-P

Lena's party crew.Kitchen party!

Playing the secretary again with Pirita.

Sunday I had a lovely relaxed day and got housework and laundry done. Then was tucked up in bed early to finally catch up on sleep and be ready for Monday. Today we started a new workshop at school. We are going to be learning databasing and customer relationship management for 3 weeks. Sounds a bit dry so guess I'll need all the sleep I can get. Especially with the huge weekend this week starting Wednesday!!

Laters..

copenhagen.. i love this city!

Another busy busy week and I am very tired so will write this then off to bed for me!

The start of the week was pretty quiet, the cold hung around for a looong time. I finally finished the picture I was working on in 3ds max. It was so frustrating cause I would follow the example in the book but then it wouldn't work for me. Then when I took it into school our teacher would sort it out straight away. So it finally got done and I can now insert the image below..

On Thursday the boring part of the week ended and the fun times began. After going to work and then school I headed over to Karina's with a bottle of sav blanc and had a great time chatting to her about all sorts of things (ie mostly men). Friday there was no school as it was future day. I thought about working but then decided against it as I had to sort out my outfit for the party later that night and also thought about trying out the spa at the gym. OMG it was the best!! I was a little disappointed as the hot pool was too cool but then spent a while in the steam room and the lovely sauna. Then I sat in front of the fire with a tea and relaxed on the couch. Will definitely have to get back there asap. It's a bit tough for the full timers as we are only allowed to use it between 9am - 4pm but I should be able to work it in between school and work some days.

I then rushed to school only to get there at the end of future day and everyone had left so did a bit of shopping then home to get ready for the fastelavn party. Fastelavn is a tradition a little like Halloween where kids get dressed in costumes and have parties where they take turns in beating a thing like a pinyata. I'm a little put off by the tradition as it is said that in the old days there would be a cat inside that they would beat to death. Anyways any excuse to party ;-) I got dressed as a secretary and biked to Phong's for pre party drinks.

Phong trying to do a Blue Steel, a tower of Carlsberg cans and Michael.

Me wearing Michael's military hat.

We then headed to school and was fun to see everyone's costumes. There were not so many people at this party but still managed to have a very fun time.

Taking dictation from Steve.

Saturday I had to get home from Phong's place in my costume, lucky the buses do not take long to show up and I was soon home to relax before doing it all over again. This time it was off to Culture Box for Alex's birthday. It was really great to catch up with him over a few drinks with some others from school. Then some of us headed to Moose and partied to the wee hours of the morning.

So Sunday I did not do much again and the next thing it's Monday and we have an assignment due Tuesday morning. I had to catch the bus to school cause once again my bike stayed there all weekend. I was very tired but dragged myself to work for 3 hours then it was home to meet with with Travis to work on our presentation. The 3d images did not turn out as I would've liked as there is not enough memory on my laptop to handle the size of the image I was working on. Also it is very painstakingly long work. It's a great program though and I will hopefully do some more drawings in it but onto something new on Thursday. Managed to get our presentation done today after a long night last night and am feeling very tired. Glad to have that part over with. And glad that it is hump day tomorrow and the fun part of the week starts again! Many more parties this weekend so lots more to tell next week.

i don't think i've ever had to blow my nose so much.. ever!

Dragonforce was awesome!! I was worried I might not like them so much because everyone else was saying they didn't but I knew Paulo liked them so he took my extra ticket and we went to Vega last Tuesday night. The first band that played were a Finnish 'Battle Metal' band. Hehe, they were pretty funny with their red and black body paint and dressed in fur and armour. Their songs sounded a little Irish to me with a wailing violin and ocordian and I could just imagine a medieval army marching to battle to their songs. Then came Dragonforce and they did not disappoint. The crowd were a little young and nerdy but were into the epic guitar playing. The band make it look easy while jumping and joking around on stage. The New Zealand guitar player got extremely drunk again, swilling down bottles of beer at every opportunity and this time I actually thought that it hindered his playing and noticed he missed at least one solo. But it was an enjoyable evening and I went to bed very tired..

Only to wake up on Wednesday morning with a cold.. what?? me sick! I was not surprised with my hectic lifestyle and got on my bike to school to sit my 2nd semester exam. I was hoping the teachers would feel sorry for me being sick but I don't think they noticed. It did make me a little less nervous though and I got through it quickly with an average grade that I expected for the very little work I put into it. I was just very happy to have it over with and then went with Sune to an art gallery in town to meet with Borgar. The art was pretty good, it was all painted and drawn on the actual walls of the gallery because Sune said something about the artists not being able to afford the art materials..? Then we went to get something to eat before heading home.

Thursday I felt even worse but I thought I'd go to school and then head to the pharmacy for some relief. I sat through as much school as I could handle then of course I should have known that I am in Denmark and things aren't as easy as going to the shop to buy some decongestant. Apparently you have to get a prescription for that stuff here?? Stuff that. So I downed some paracetamol and antihistamines instead and headed to my bed.

Friday I was feeling okay so it was back to school for more 3ds max training. This is pretty hard stuff to learn and don't even let me start about how frustrated I am right now but I'll get into that later.. I had a short meeting with Travis regarding our project and then headed to the Friday Bar =D It was pretty quiet, we even got a booth to hang in but more and more people turned up and a little party started. It's funny how many people turn up on a Friday after the classes have finished hehe. I ended up going into the city with some of the Danish students and had a great time partying up at the surf bar drinking white russians.

Then on Saturday I discovered that colds and hangovers do not mix! I had a very quiet day and decided to stay in that night to so that I could get up and call home. It was tempting to go out and meet up with Phong but I got a lot of parties coming up the next few weeks so thought I would just chill out. Sunday I tried to ring home and was nice to talk to Mum and James but very frustrating as my network connection kept cutting off and disconnecting my calls. It was a weird feeling not being hung over on a Sunday and I was actually quite productive. I had to go get my bike from school and then went shopping and baked a cake.

Monday I went to school and we had some interesting lectures on gaming. We have a very funny teacher who is teaching us this and doesn't like computer games at all :-P Then it was off to work and then home to work more on my 3d picture. I got very frustrated as the book we have is version 6.0 from 2003 and we are working with 3ds max 2009!! It helps a lot to have someone to help you so was good to go to school today and get more lessons. I was hoping to have the image finished so that I could post here as there is a big lack of pictures this week but I have one little error I don't know how to fix grrrr! But i am determined and it will be done!

Anyways I have a very early start tomorrow and should be in bed. Will find some pictures to pretty this up tomorrow. Laters.
