a week of remembering

I had another lovely quiet start to the week. Just going to school and work and then relaxing at home. Wednesday night I met with a teacher from my school Barbara at a little theatre down the road from my place and we saw a play called Table Manners written by Alan Ayckbourne. It was really entertaining and fun. You can read about it in an article in the Danish news in English, the Copenhagen Post here.

Thursday was Mum's birthday and I couldn't help remembering the same time last year when we went to see the ballet Onigen. It was lovely to catch her for a quick happy birthday over the phone before heading to school. After work I rushed to the Southern Cross for quiz night. It was only me and Kay meeting but luckily our funny drunk friend from last time was there and Josh made up the fourth for our quiz team. We were doing alright until the last round when Peter was too drunk to even talk. After the quiz Ana and then Dean, Nick and David turned up for some drinks.

Friday was filming day at school. We set everything up in the basement of the school and had a fun day mucking around and filming it all. Then we headed out to Friday bar in the sun. We set ourselves up in a very sunny shady spot and were soon cooking it was so hot. They moved the beer taps outside and there was a competition between some of the guys to see who could drink the longest from the Summersby cider tap. Borgar of course won. As the afternoon wore on and the sun moved over the sky everyone migrated into the last corner of the garden to see the sun. Then Sune and I went to get pizza and a last beer before heading home. It did not take me long to fall asleep after all the sun and beer.

Saturday morning I was up early to get ready for ANZAC day. I biked up the lovely sunny coast past Charlottenlund Fort to the Australian Ambassador's residence. She lives in a beautiful house with a lovely garden. The service was really nice with a few poems being read and the NZ and Australian anthems being played etc. Then it was time to drink yummy Australian wine, eat nibbles and mingle with the other people there. I had a really nice bike ride back into town afterwards with Dean and we stopped to take in the view at the beach and fort. The camp ground will be open soon and I also remembered when Dad was here last year and the great times spent at that lovely spot. It was a shame to go to the pub on such a lovely day but there were lots of ANZAC biscuits, lamingtons and chocolate crackles to eat. Not to mention the yummy Australian beer and Macs Gold!! A few people turned up during the day. Was lovely to see Nat briefly and Borgar but it was a long day and was happy to bike home around 11pm and jump in bed to watch a movie.

Way to be the Australian Ambassador in Copenhagen and live in such a sweet pad!

Aussie boys can't handle it.. at the Southern Cross Pub

Sunday it was nice to wake up earlyish and call home. Had a nice chat with Mum before cleaning and shopping and making salad for dinner. I headed over to Lucas' to work on the editing of our video. First we had a grill outside in the garden then we went to work and was happy when Steve turned up later with icecream. Probably because I had had early nights on Friday and Saturday I still felt like a little more socialising so headed over to Phong's afterwards to chat with him and Paula before heading home.

So today we had our video presentations and it was fun to see the finished products and hear the teachers comments. We made it fun with popcorn and coke and Sune and I had made awards for the teachers favourite and students pick. We then had a talk with the teachers about the workshop and it turned into a talk about the whole semester so far. I really enjoy working with these teachers and can see that they enjoy our class to, so it makes school more fun and friendly. We have no more school for the rest of the week now. Next Monday we will get our exam project and it's time to really start working hard!

Wednesday.. Ran out of time to post this yesterday so am posting now at work. Will find some pics to add when I get home. Laters =D

another week..

I'm actually sitting in class writing this week. The lecture is pretty hard to concentrate on so I may as well be doing something. We are doing a video workshop so the theory lectures are on genre etc.

Spring flowers on the way to work.

I had a pretty quiet week last week, recovering from massive Easter. Wednesday after work I met with Sarah and Pirita. Was great to see them, don't see them enough. Sarah was leaving for Germany the next day with no concrete plans of when she is coming back. I hope it is soon! Thursday night I biked to the Empire Bio to meet with Karina and watch The Reader. It is a great movie and a real heart puller.

Friday was another beautiful day and was happy to sit in the sun with a few beers after school. Then it was off to work for the German Desk's leaving drinks. Was great to hang out with people from work, has been too long since I been to Saxo Friday bar. Then I went with Morten and Maart to Tivoli for Friday Rock. The band was not so good, very soft Danish rock. But was great atmosphere and lovely to be in Tivoli again. After the concert we met with Dean and Mark and went to a beer bar across the road. Michael and Søren joined us and was nice to drink some beers and chat before heading home.

Tivoli rock.

Morten, Louise, me and Maart (Morten never smiles but in this picture he looks particularly grumpy).

Saturday I had to be up and out to the hairdressers. This was not a nice way to spend 3 hours, hairdressers in Copenhagen freak me out!! It's either I find somewhere cheaper and spend the whole time freaking out about what they are doing or I get totally horrified at the cost. This was more the first one, it has never taken 3 hours before, this girl was so slow! Anyways it turned out okay but I won't be going back. I had thought about having a quiet night but being Saturday that thought didn't last and I headed over to Phong's to meet with him and Ana for some drinks.

Sunday I enjoyed a sleep in and then did my laundry and hung it out in the sun. Then spent a lovely relaxing day sitting in my chair with the sun streaming through the window. Later on I cooked lamb roast and watched Valkyrie streaming off the net. It was an okay movie, set in a fascinating time but I didn't think much of Tom Cruise.

So now I am waiting for a meeting at school. We are to discuss what we think about 3rd semester and the school in general. I am just looking forward to the coffee and cookies =)
Will put up some pics when I'm home tonight. Laters..

Later on that night.. Okay so it was not a very interesting week picture wise. Lucky Lucas uploaded his pictures from our Easter party. I'll put some here..

Setting up the table.

Om nom nom..

Oh and here's a picture of my thumb and what broke it.. Borgar's head!!

happy happy easter..

What fabulous Easter week! After work on Tuesday I took a bus into the city to look for my bike again. This time I had a map of where the second bar we went to was. I could swear that I walked there but when I got there my bike was parked right outside and right where I walked straight past it to look on Sunday!! Was pretty happy and nice bike ride home.

Breakfast at Saxo

Wednesday I got pretty bad lower back pain and had to leave early from work. It is friggin impossible to see a doctor here with my doctor obviously away and a message in Danish on her answer phone. I got a Danish friend at work to listen to it for me and he got me some numbers but when I called they said they were looking after patients yesterday and I was best to wait for the after hours doctor at 4pm. So frustrating!! Sometimes I think it would be better to pay! Anyway after I had put a hot water bottle behind my back and then laid on my stomach for an hour it was feeling much better. I was pretty relaxed so biked over to Phong's for a visit and few brewskies.

Thursday after work I went to meet Karina and we went to the Southern Cross for quiz night. Last time I was in a group with the Aussie boys Mark and Dean we lost and I was not keen on drinking loser shots again. But it seemed the added mix of Danish Karina and English Nick worked a treat and we won!! This was also not ideal with me working the next day as we won 10 beers and a bottle of vodka but I had a few beers and left the rest to it.

Me and the guys from the winning team

Work was not so bad the next day as I didn't start till 10am and it was sooo quiet I was pretty much the last person to leave at 3pm. Later that night I biked over to Phong's and Karina made a yummy lasagna dinner. Then it was off to Fode's for his birthday party. Was great as not so many times spent with work friends lately.

Saturday it was rush to get ready for Easter party. I met Sune, Alex and Ana-Maria at Netto for some shopping and then as it was such beautiful weather we put a sign on the door saying to meet in the park and relaxed with some beers in the sun. Then it was time to head back to the bar and set up the table. Wow there ended up being a lot of food and was great to knock back some snaaps and beer with it. We had to clear the bar for the public by 9pm and it was a fun night with more people turning up before I was very appreciative of the taxi driving me home to bed.

Chillin in the park with Sune, Lucas and Phong

Morten and Alex

Ahhh Easter =)

Sunday I was very happy for a sleep in and lazy morning. I rang home and had nice talk to James for about an hour. Then it was time to head outside as the beautiful weather just kept on coming. I biked to King's park again to meet with Phong. We wanted to get the left over food from the bars fridge but it turned out they didn't open till 9pm. So we hung around for a bit before heading home to relax some more.

Monday it was back to work again but I knew it would be very quiet again and was looking forward to leaving early. After that I headed over to Christiania for the first time in aaaages to meet with Nat. It was lovely sitting in the sun catching up with Nat and the guys and watching all the strangeness that is Christiania.

So then today it was back to school and we started our video workshop. It seems as though there is a lot to do in 2 weeks!! Then onto work and holiday is over it was busy again. Now time to get to bed before heading back to work at 8am tomorrow. I'm trying to plan some holiday's to Norway, Amsterdam and Germany so will be nice to have something to look forward to =)

pics!!

Okay so I finally managed to find some photos for the last couple of weeks. Thank goodness for Lucas and his papparazzi skills at the friday bar. Also if you wonder why the quality of some pics arn't so great is because I am not being bothered taking out my camera and instead using my new phone.

UPDATE!!

I found my bike =)
More details in the next blog.. laters.

craaaaazy!!

Just when I think life here couldn't get any crazier, busier, more fun.. the last 2 weeks happens!

Yes so busy I didn't even get time to blog. Wednesday I biked to the city and met with 7 other friends to watch the Watchmen. We had a beer beforehand then went back to the cinema and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I didn't even notice it was almost 3 hours long. Some of the guys complained about too much much male nudity but I wasn't complaining ;-) We then went for a quiet beer at the Southern Cross before cycling home.

Thursday it was quiz night and back to the Southern Cross. I met with my new German friend Kay and with Sina but Mark and Charles didn't turn up like they said they would the week before so we ended up with a rather drunk older Danish guy in our team. Lucky for us he was quite smart and we didn't come in last. Was another fun quiz night.

Friday they had an opening party for our school bar with a lot of the teachers, the designer and some representatives from Turborg attending. Turborg supplied a lot of free beer and people got a little too excited as it was a very messy night. Mine ended up with a broken thumb. I have now learnt to keep some distance from Borgar as I went to give him a hug and he slipped over hitting his head against the wall with my thumb stuck inbetween. He has a very hard head! Although my thumb hurt a lot it didn't seem broken so I took a taxi home.

Friday bar!!

Free beer, thanks Turborg =)

Wii bowling

Saturday my thumb was looking very swollen so I jumped on the bus to the weekend doctor who promptly told ne I needed to go to the hospital for an x-ray. I was really hoping I wouldn't have to do that dreading bumping into someone I had managed to avoid. But I got a nice guy who took 2 pictures of my thumb and showed me where I had 5 or 6 cracks in the top bone. I waited a long time to see a doctor and they gave me a splint I have to wear for 3 weeks. I went and picked up my bike from school and was pleased I could still ride.

Broken thumb =(

The wall where Borgar's head hit

Later that night I headed over to Karina's for some white russians and gossip. We then took a bus into town and met with Christian and Peter. The bar we went to with them was not very exciting so we walked back to the city and to Heidi's. There we met a very drunk Martin whom proceeded to buy 4 very large mugs of beer (German style). We did not do a very good job of drinking them as it was late and were tired so took a night bus home.

That's a lot of beer!!

Sunday I had a nice quiet night at home and Monday after school and work I biked into town to meet with Kay. We had some yummy German Weissbiers at Cafe Kys and some nice conversation. Tuesday was another quiet night then Wednesday I cooked for Karina and she brought over a dvd. It was an okay chick flick, not very excited and it wasn't long before Karina fell asleep. Thursday I had a presentation to prepare for. I had not got a finished database done so instead I concentrated on one thing and made a presentation on entity-relationship modelling. The disgram I had made looked good and was a successfull presentation on Friday.

I make pretty diagram..

We were all finished by 12 noon Friday and it was a gorgeous sunny so a few of us went to get pizza and beer and sat in the park across the road from school. It felt great to be sitting in the sun in just a t-shirt and a great reminder that it's getting warmer and sunnier and soon will be summer =) We went back to school at 2pm fro friday bar and this time the theme was Easter party. I tried one of the Easter beers and did not like it so much. Tobias turned up with Sune and was nice to sit outside in the sun and have a beer and catch up with them. It had been a looooong time I have seen Tobias, over a year. I hung oround friday bar a little longer until it was time to head into the city to meet with Mark and Charles. I stayed for one beer with them and then biked a little further to meet with Phong and then all the rest of the gang at Cafe Munter. There I had the unfortunate luck to see my second Danish ex.. both in one day!! It was a long day/night and eventually took a cab home.

First afternoon in the park for 2009!

Beautiful Bispeberg Hospital where I had my finger x-rayed. (It looks like a normal horrible hospital inside)

Saturday I was not feeling too fresh but after a relaxing day I got ready again to go out and this time biked a short distance to Peter's house where him and Christian were making sushi. Karina turned up and was a lovely time listening to great music and yummy food and drink and lovely conversations. After a while we headed to Norrebro to a little bar and was nice to have a dance before heading home. Sunday I was very tired but no rest for the wicked! I was to be at Corrine's place at 5pm to have dinner and talk about what they should do on their NZ holiday. On the way I stopped in town to pick up my bike but couldn't find it. I will have another look tomorrow but fear it is stolen =( Matthew and Corrine are going to NZ for 2 weeks, such a short time! So they have to plan carefully what they will do. Corrine cooked some delish Indian food and was a very pleasant evening.

Christian with all the yummy sushi him & Peter made

But now I am very tired and will need to upload photos tomorrow cause now I need sleep!!
